Story of Snow White’s birth and her real mother
Story of Snow White: Once upon a time a king and queen ruled a land. The king was brave and just. The queen was lovely and kind. The realm was prosperous and the people were happy. They all loved their king and queen. Although there was one unfulfilled wish in the royal couple’s life, they had no child and they wished for one really strongly.
One day on a winter and snowy morning, the queen was sitting by her ebony window while doing some needlework and was gazing out of the window lost in some thoughts. Meanwhile, a bird suddenly flew by the window which startled the queen and she pricked her finger with the needle. Soon a drop of blood fell on the snow outside the window from the queen’s finger.
The queen saw the blood on the snow and said, “Oh how I wish that I had a daughter with skin as white as snow, lips as red as blood, and hair as black as ebony.”
Soon her wish was fulfilled. She gave birth to a baby girl who had skin as white as snow, lips as red as blood, and hair as black as ebony. And because the baby princess had skin as white as snow, she was named Snow White. But soon after giving birth to the princess, the queen died.
After some time, the king married again. The new queen was beautiful, proud, wicked, and cruel and knew black magic.
Snow White and the huntsman:
After the death of her real mother, Snow White started living in the palace with her father and the new mother. The new queen was really proud of her beauty.
She had a magic mirror which never lied to which she would daily ask, “Mirror mirror on the wall, who is the most fairest of them all?”
To which the mirror would reply, “Thou oh queen art the most fairest of all (You my queen are the most fairest of all).” And the queen would fill up with joy and would become more proud.
The days started to went by in this way and slowly Snow White grew up to be more beautiful than ever.
And then one day the queen asked the mirror, “Mirror mirror on the wall, who is the most fairest of them all?”
To which the mirror replied, “You my queen, are fair, it is true, but Snow White is even fairer than you.” Upon hearing this, the queen became so jealous and enraged that she called her most loyal huntsman, and ordered, “Take SnoWhite to the woods, kill her and bring back her heart to me at once.”
The huntsman took the poor girl to the woods. But because Snow White was a kind-hearted child he felt sympathy towards her and could not kill her. So he told Snow White the truth about the intentions of her stepmother and asked her to run into the woods and never come back to the palace. So Snow White ran as fast as she could and the huntsman killed a wild boar and took its heart to the evil queen. The queen felt happy and relieved.
As Snow White was walking deep into the creepy dark woods, she felt so scared that she started running in unknown direction with bare feet. There were sharp stones and rough branches hurting her. She was tired and bleeding from the wounds. But she kept running for a long time until she came to a little cottage in the middle of the woods. She finally stopped and decided to look inside the house to find some food and to rest.
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (Dwarves):
When Snow White stepped inside the tiny cottage in the middle of the woods, she saw that everything was tiny. She saw tiny dining table with seven tiny chairs around it. But it was all so messy. So she started cleaning up in the hope that the owner would let her stay for the night.
While cleaning, a memory struck her. She remembered that when she was little, she used to play with a little prince from the nearby kingdom. But when the evil queen arrived, she made a rule- no visitors. So for some time after that, the prince used to quietly come near Snow White’s window to meet her. Now when she was miles away from her kingdom, she wondered if she would ever see him again.
Finally, when she was done cleaning, she walked upstairs, where she found seven tiny beds in a room. And as she was tired from the long scary day, she fell asleep on one of the beds.
When night arrived, the owners of the little house returned who used to be away during the day for mining gold in the mountains. They were seven little dwarfs who held little axes and shovels which they used for mining. They entered their house and were shocked to see that everything was so clean and tidy.
The first dwarf said whose name was Doc, “Oh what sorcery is this? How is everything so clean?”
To which the second dwarf whose name was Dopey replied, “Well I don’t mind this sorcery. It feels so fresh and neat.”
The third dwarf named Grumpy said, “Something is not right, let us check upstairs.”
So they all went upstairs and saw Snow White sleeping in one of the beds. The fourth dwarf said, “Oh my god, this child is so beautiful.” And they kept looking at her without any noise.
Eventually Snow White woke up from sleep and they all looked at each other with surprise. They introduced them to her. The dwarfs told her their names- Bashful, Doc, Dopey, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy and Sneezy. Finally Snow White told them about her ill fate and how he could not return to her home.
To which Bashful said, “Stay here with us. No need to go back.”
To which Snow White replied that she would love to stay, but then she would want to help them in their daily lives.
“But you already cleaned up our house.” said Sneezy.
And Snow White said that was not enough. And that she wanted to do more as now she would a part of the house.
Happy replied, “Fair enough.”
Doc said, “Ok fine, do you know how to read? As we have these amazing books filled with amazing stories from around the world and we need someone to read the books to us.”
Snow White agreed and they started living happily after that. But there was one condition that she would never open the door for any stranger as it could be dangerous for her and they all agreed.
Snow White and the poisonous apple:
The days went by. The dwarfs would leave the house to work in the mine early morning. Snow White would prepare meals, clean the house. And after the dwarfs would return, they all would sit around the girl to listen to the stories.
One day back in the castle, the queen asked her magic mirror, “Mirror mirror on the wall, who is the most fairest of them all?”
To which the mirror replied, “You, my queen are fair, it’s true, but Snow White is more fairer than you.”
The queen screamed in rage, “that’s impossible, she is dead,”
“Snow White is alive.” The mirror quoted and showed an image of the girl in the tiny cottage.
The queen was burning with rage and she thought of an evil plan to kill Snow White.
Next day when the dwarfs were away at work, an old woman arrived outside the cottage and knocked on the door. She was actually the evil queen disguised as the old woman. When Snow White asked who it was, the old woman said in a weak voice, “I am selling beautiful laces my child.”
But Snow White refused to open the gate as she was not allowed to. But she looked at the laces and they were beautiful. So she thought what harm an old woman could do. And she opened the door.
The old woman then said, “Let me dress you up in these beautiful laces child.” And she started dressing up Snow White in laces and suddenly wrapped them hard around her neck. She strangled her as hard as she could. Snow White was suffocated and slowly stopped breathing. The evil queen saw Snow White fall to the ground and ran away. Evening arrived and the dwarfs returned. They saw that Snow White was lying on the floor and she was not moving at all. They looked at the laces cut them loose and Snow White slowly started to breathe again.
Back at the castle, the queen asked her mirror, “Mirror mirror on the wall, who is the most fairest of them all?”
The mirror replied, “You, my queen, are fair it is true, but Snow White beyond the mountains, with the seven dwarfs is thousand times fairer than you.”
Listening to this, the evil queen felt her heart beating fast and understood that Snow White somehow came back to life. So she thought of another plan.
Next day the dwarfs once again warned Snow White to not open the door for any stranger and went to work, another old woman arrived outside the cottage and knocked on the door. When Snow White asked who it was, the woman said in a weak voice, “I am selling really nice combs.” The combs had poison on their teeth.
Snow White said in a firm voice this time, “Go on your way, I am not allowed to open the door for strangers.”
To which the old woman asked her to look at the combs she had for sale. Snow White looked at the combs and they were comfortable looking, so she opened the door. The old woman said, “Here, let me comb your hair nicely.”
The old woman started to comb Snow White’s hair with the poisoned comb. Eventually, she started poking her scalp with the poisoned comb and the poison started to work when it came in contact with the skin. Slowly Snow White started to lose consciousness. When she finally fell to ground, the wicked queen disguised as the old woman felt so happy and ran away.
When the dwarfs returned late in the evening, they saw Snow White on the floor. They also noticed the comb stuck in her hair and pulled it out at once. Slowly, Snow White regained consciousness.
Back in the palace, when the queen asked her mirror, “Mirror mirror on the wall, who is the most fairest of them all?” , the mirror replied, “You, my queen, are fair it is true, but Snow White beyond the mountains, with the seven dwarfs is thousand times fairer than you.”
This time the evil queen was so furious, that she decided to use the deadliest poison to kill Snow White.
Next morning, the dwarfs warned the girl yet again to not open the door for any stranger and left for work. After some time, another old woman knocked the door of dwarf’s cottage and this time she was carrying red and delicious looking apples. Snow White asked who it was. The old woman replied, “I am just an old woman selling delicious red apples child, open the door.”
But Snow White said from inside the house through a window, “No. Go away on your way. I don’t want any apples.”
So the old woman reached the window and said, “It’s ok, if you don’t want to buy, but at least taste one apple.”
The apples were delicious looking and Snow White was tempted to taste them.
The old woman looked at the tempted girl and said again, “If you are afraid that there is something wrong with the apples then I can cut one apple in halves, so I will eat one half and you can eat the remaining half.” Snow White agreed. So the old woman cut one apple in half and ate the half that was not poisoned and gave the other poisoned half to Snow White. As soon as the girl took a bite from the apple, she fell to the ground.
The wicked queen disguised as the old woman made sure that the girl was dead and then hurried away.
When the dwarfs returned that evening, they saw the unconscious Snow White on the floor. So they undid her laces, combed her hair but this time, she did not come back to life. They all started to weep for this time they knew that she was dead. They kept mourning for days but the girl still looked as fresh as alive. So instead of burying her in the ground they prepared a beautiful glass coffin for the girl and put her in with beautiful flowers and jewels. They wrote down her name in gold and put that inside the coffin as well, which also stated that she was a princess. She looked like a beautiful woman sleeping peacefully. White skin, red lips and black hair.
Snow White and the Prince:
Days later, a prince from the nearby kingdom was riding through the woods and saw the beautiful girl in the glass coffin. He instantly fell in love with her. He then urged the dwarfs to let him take the coffin to his kingdom to honor and respect her as his most beloved.
The dwarfs said, “No, we would not let anyone take away our Snow White for the whole gold in the world.”
To which the prince replied, “I can’t live a day anymore without looking at her.”
The dwarfs kept declining but the prince kept pleading and the dwarfs finally accepted his request. And so the prince had his four men carry the coffin on their shoulder to the kingdom. But suddenly one of the man lost control and it made the coffin shake, the shaking dislodged the piece of poisonous apple from Snow White’s throat and she slowly came back to life.
She cried, “Oh my god, where am I?”
The prince replied, “You are here with me princess.” And he told her everything that had happened when she was asleep in the coffin. The prince said, “I love you so much and I want you to come to my kingdom with me and become my beloved wife.” And he kissed Snow White.
The evil spell of the wicked queen broke with the first kiss of love and Snow White fell in love with the prince and accompanied him to his kingdom. Their wedding was planned in the most royal way. Snow White’s step mother was also invited to the grand wedding.
Far away, the evil queen asked her mirror, “Mirror mirror on the wall, who is the most fairest of them all?”
To which the mirror replied, “The young queen is the fairest of all.”
She became so enraged and wanted to find who the new queen was, so she went to the wedding and saw her step daughter Snow White looking gorgeous in the bridal dress. In the end, the wicked queen was punished for her deeds and Snow White and her king lived happily ever after.
Moral of Snow White’s Story: A wicked person always has a bad end and a good and loving person always has a good end.
