Everyone became free to live their life abiding by the constitution and Indian law. And hence this day became one of the most important milestones of Indian history. So since 1950 till this day, we celebrate 26th January as our Republic day.
Republic day is one of the most important national holidays of India. Although, all the institutions, whether government or private are closed for the day; but we still get to our offices, colleges, schools, and cultural halls to celebrate this day, just like we all are here today. We celebrate it like a festival. Cultural festivals and parades are organized, to capture our diversity and progress as a nation. All the venues are decorated with the tri-color of our national flag. People perform patriotic dances, songs, and skits. Each institution hoists our national flag- The Tiranga. Sweets are distributed. People stand up together for the National Anthem at the end of the celebration.
We must remember each and every person that made the ultimate sacrifice to get India free and to get us our right to breathe freely. We bow down to such brave hearts. As we got freedom and got totally on our own on the 15th of August, 1947, the first thing that we needed was our own rule book that would have resulted in basic human rights for the people of our nation and the development of India; as a result, the most prominent and intelligent scholars of the country came together to form a committee to shape our constitution. The head of this committee was Mr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, who is known as the father of the Indian constitution. So after a long series of meetings, discussions, and analyzing, the Indian constitution was ready to be implemented almost two years after our freedom. Our constitution was a result of inspiration and adaptations from the constitutions of various other democratic countries. Finally, on 26th of January, 1950 the Indian constitution was implemented and this day is marked as the first Republic Day of India. With this, India became a republic and a democratic country. So 26th January is marked by an important milestone in Indian history and we now celebrate it every year as our Republic Day with pride in our hearts.
